Tel Avivians

There’s a lot to say about life in Tel Aviv. It ain’t easy and sometimes it’s even hard. It’s expensive, hectic and rude, it’s not as clean, pretty or green, you need to be tough to survive here, and yet the people who form this melting pot called Tel Aviv are the essence of what makes this great city, what it really is.

Once, some 15-20 years ago, Tel Aviv was a closed community attracting only those who had the stomach to live in its old, neglected buildings and mean streets. The Tel Aviv we know today is safer and friendlier, consisting of colorful people from all over the globe coexisting alongside each other. From young professionals, couples, young families and retirees, the city offers something for everyone.

Tel Aviv is different. Its warm Mediterranean weather allows its residents to live outdoors almost all year round hosting many open air activities, streets parties and fairs. For outsiders, it may seem like no one ever works here, with its beaches, cafés and nightclubs packed almost every day of the week. Yet, people here work hard and play hard, and within this eclectic crowd sharing a relatively small piece of heaven, you will find what Tel Avivians all have in common is that on-going love and hate relationship with the city.

You either love it or hate it, but for most, Tel Aviv is an addiction hard to break and getting out every once in a while is vital for survival in this concrete jungle.
